Website Migration
-
Q: Why should I move my web site? What does website migration entail?
A: If your present web hosting provider can no longer measure up to the demands of your web site, or if you experience regular downtime, or if you are made to wait for hours for the client support team to respond to you, it might be smart to switch your provider, i.e. to move all the files for your sites together with your databases from your current provider to your new provider. At REN Hosting, we are aware that this can often be difficult and time–consuming. This is why we will do all that for you at no cost! Our experienced technical staff reps will transfer your site content from your current hosting provider to us. Our technicians have broad experience with web site migration and are able to take care of everything – from a traditional WordPress weblog or Joomla™–powered website, to a very complex, custom–built application.
-
Q: How much time will the website migration procedure take?
A: While we cannot give you a precise time frame, because there are many variables, including the size of the web files and databases, the location of the current host’s server, the complexity of your web site and the current workload of our Website Migration Department, etc., we will try our very best to migrate your site within 48 hours, and in certain cases – within 24 hours (when the website content is not large).
-
Q: My personal privacy is important to me. What information do you require?
A: We do not collect any sensitive info. We’ll require, though, the login information for your current web hosting account along with the name of the site that you want to move.
-
Q: I give you access to sensitive info. How can I be sure that you won’t misuse it?
A: Our Privacy Policy is an indivisible part of the agreement that we’ll have with you as a client. We are focused on protecting the security of the private data collected from the clients. To achieve this, we employ technical security measures so as to prevent the loss, the misuse, the modification or the unauthorized leakage of the personal details under our control. The security measures include, but are not limited to: physical, electronic and administrative procedures to safeguard and secure the details that we receive online. When we ask users to present financial information (for example, a credit card number), this info is encoded using the SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption technology.
-
Q: Will my web site be offline during the transfer?
A: While we transfer your web site, it will be available both in your web hosting account with us and in your account with your previous web hosting provider. When the transfer is complete, we’ll make certain that everything is working correctly and that the integrity of your data is not jeopardized prior to telling you that the migration is over. Then we’ll tell you how to transfer the domain to your hosting account with us and how to update the DNS settings.
-
Q: Will my current web hosting provider need to do anything?
A: Nope. We’ll never get in touch with your hosting provider about anything at all. They will not be aware of the website migration either.
-
Q: Which web hosting providers can you migrate data from?
A: We can transfer your website from any hosting provider or any Linux–based hosting platform on condition that we can receive access to the Control Panel and there is FTP access available. The only sites that we can’t migrate are the ones based on closed–source software apps such as Wix, BaseKit, Jimdo, Website Tonight, Four Square and Mr Site.
